Bulgarian Participants at the International Folklore Festival in Odessa

The Folklore Ensemble "Obzor" was the only Bulgarian ensemble that participated in the International Folklore Festival "YUZHiK" in Ukraine. The event was held in the period August 22nd - 24th, 2015 within the framework of the project "Black Sea Areal for Culture and Art" (BASACA), funded by the Black Sea Basin Joint Operational Programme 2007-2013. Project partners are Platform AGORA - branch Burgas, Komotini Municipality - Greece and Agency for Support of Cultural Initiatives „KusiCreaVision" - Ukraine. The Mayor of Obzor, Mr. Hristo Yanev send off the participants to Ukraine wishing them success and expressed his pride for their participation at the prestigious international event as the only Bulgarian ensemble.

Ensemble "Obzor" had a solo concert and took part in the joint festival activities under the project for which was awarded with the applause of the audience. Chitalishte "Izgrev" - Obzor was a host at the Bulgaria house where they had arranged an exhibition of household items and Bulgarian folklore costumes from XIX century. Traditional Bulgarian dishes and drinks were presented at the house like Shopska salad, lukanka, rakia, easter cake and home-made bread with honey and salt. The Mayor of Juznyi who was the host of the festival visited the Bulgarian house and tasted the dishes.

Representatives of Platform AGORA - branch Burgas expressed their pleasure of the great concert of the ensemble that impressed the audience of more than 10 000 viewers. For their performance they were awarded a special plaque.
