Contest AGORA 2016
Contest AGORA is announced for an eight consecutive year searching for the most successful initiative leading to community development realized by Chitalishte in 2016.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
The contest is open to Chitalishtes from all over the country that have implemented by their own or in partnership projects, campaigns or initiatives leading to development of their community. The application should indicate real and visible result achieved in 2016, regardless of when it has started. Each Chitalishte could submit unlimited number of entries for the Contest. However, only one initiative could be among the finalists.
CONTEST PURPOSE
The Contest will award Chitalishte practices, projects and initiatives in 2016 that resulted in:- mobilized representatives of local communities for more active participation in the development of their settlement and identification of the region's specific image;
- strengthened the community aspect in Chitalishte work as a neutral space for discussions, meetings, public consultations and debates;
- enhanced the solidarity, humanity and tolerance within the community;
- stimulated through art, culture and education the development of their settlement, region or community;
- strengthened the Chitalishte public image as culturally conscious and diverse ity;
- introduced innovative approaches for personal and creative growth of children and adults;
- improved the access to information, culture, knowledge and qualification thus providing the residents' to exercise their informed choice;
- shared European valued among the local communities.
The initiatives could demonstrate various mechanisms and forms of participation of local residents in the process of resolving community issues, support to causes, social innovations, charity, volunteering, partnership. The submitted entries should emphasize on the role of Chitalishte as a community development center.
THE APPLICATION
The Chitalishtes applying for the Contest should present their initiatives in the Contest entry form.
The Contest entry should consist of:
- Information for the applicant Chitalishte - name, address for correspondence, e-mail and phone number for contact.
- Information for the initiative, including: name and brief explanation of the initiative, what are the community benefits and how are the citizens, Chitalishte and partners involved in the initiative ( up to 2 500 characters with spaces).
- Photos with good quality and a brief explanation illustrating the initiative (3 photos, size not less than 1275 х 1754). ONLY photos in electronic format should be submitted.
PROCEDURES AND ASSESSMENT OF APPLICATIONS
The winner in Contest AGORA will be selected at two stages:
First stage: Evaluation of submitted applications by the Contest Jury
The Contest AGORA 2016 Jury is consisting of 9 members specialists in the fields of community development, civic sector and Chitalishta.
The Jury members read and evaluate all submitted applications for Contest AGORA 2016. The evaluation is made according to the previously set assessment criteria: Level of civic participation and local community activism; Impact and benefits to the community; Originality of the approach; Application and adaptability among the Chitalishte network. Each criterion is marked in a scale from 0 to 5 (the highest - 5; lowest - 0).
The Jury members select 5 (five) finalists among all submitted initiatives in five categories for community development:
- "Community in Development";
- "Solidarity and Humanity";
- "Art and Culture for Development";
- "Perspectives for Growth";
- "Most Productive Partnership"
The Jury reserves the right not to select a finalist in case there are no sufficient quality applications submitted in any of the categories mentioned above.
The evaluations will be discussed by the Contest Jury at the meeting for selection of the finalists. The selection of 5 finalists will be done with consensus by all members.
The finalists' initiatives will be posted on Platform AGORA's web site, the Facebook profile of the Contest, as well as on the Information Portal of NGOs in Bulgaria ngobg.info.
Second stage: Selection of Contest AGORA 2016 winner
The Contest winner will be chosen during the official ceremony. The five finalists in the above mentioned categories will present their initiatives live to the audience. The winner will be chosen by the audience.
AWARDS
The winner will receive a sculpture of the Contest AGORA, specially designed by the author Mariana Kusheva. The award is provided by Platform AGORA.
The five finalists selected by the Contest Jury in the following categories:
- "Community in Development";
- "Solidarity and Humanity";
- "Art and Culture for Development";
- "Perspectives for Growth";
- "Most Productive Partnership"
will receive special awards - a Contest AGORA 2016 plate, Certificate, monetary and material prizes provided by Platform AGORA and the Contest partners.

In order to participate you should fill in Contest entry form and email it to till February 24th, 2017 with subject line: Konkurs AGORA. Applications sent by post or with courier service on hard copy will not be considered!
